Umm Al Houl Power (UHP) is one of Qatar’s largest established power plants and the Middle East. With the capability to generate 2,530 MW of power and 135.5 MIGD of potable water, UHP actively contributes to the Qatar National Vision of 2030.

What is the Difference between the Umm AlHoul power plant and Kahramaa?
Umm Al Houl Power is a production plant under the Qatar Electricity and Water Company. While UHP generates electricity and desalinates water to provide drinking water, Kahramaa is a distributor that transports the electricity and water and supplies it within Qatar.

Is a gate pass mandatory to visit UHP?
Yes, UHP requires anyone who enters the plant to have a gate pass. We do this to maintain safety and security at all times. Should you wish to apply for a gate pass, you can do so on the gate pass page.

Environmental sustainability is one of UHP’s core values – we seek to minimize the adverse environmental impacts of our operations and business processes. Keeping in line with Qatar’s 2030 vision for ecological sustainability, UHP wants to balance economic growth and social development with environmental protection.
To align our operation with the National vision, UHP follows a stringent environmental monitoring system to maximize environmental protection. What is Reverse Osmosis Technology?
Reverse Osmosis Technology is a process where water is passed through a selective membrane to remove particles and purify water. Think of the membrane as a checkpoint that only allows pure water to pass through while keeping impurities behind.
